Undoubtedly, the Lunar New Year is the most significant celebration for the Vietnamese people. This festival signifies the commencement of a new year and typically occurs either at the end of January or the start of February. Additionally, many individuals who are employed away from their hometowns take this opportunity to reunite with family and relax after a demanding year. In southern Vietnam, it is common for people to purchase a branch of yellow apricot blossoms for festive decorations, as it symbolizes a joyful new beginning. There is also a customary practice where adults give children red envelopes to convey their good wishes, emphasizing the importance of love and connection over the monetary aspect. Furthermore, this time is also dedicated to honoring ancestors by hosting a feast that includes traditional delicacies such as Chung cake and sticky rice cake. Personally, I absolutely enjoy this festival as it offers me the perfect occasion to embrace new beginnings and make fresh plans for the year ahead.
