This months Sunday Love List brings you one of my favourite subjects:Coffee shops > Insert heart eyes here <. But, with a wee twist. The coveted window seats, in my favourite shops will always be top of my list, but the spring weather brings all that outdoor seating goodness.
Edinburgh has the most green spaces of any city in the UK, there’s so many choices when it comes to packing a picnic and heading out for the afternoon, but when you just want a quick coffee and maybe a little people watching, here are my top 5 coffee spots for sitting outside this Spring/Summer:
Sir Walter Cafe, Princes Street Right in the middle of Princes Street gardens and often overlooked, this charming wee spot is a perfect stop on a stroll through the city. it’s open rain or shine and being in a prime tourist spot is often quite busy. You can sit or wander, I love hot chocolate in the summer but if it’s a wee bit too warm they do a pretty good ice cream too.
Montpelliers, MorningsideWell known for being a wine bar, people are often surprised that they do coffee. The interior is beautiful, but outside not only has a little sheltered canopy, but heaters too. So even if it’s a typically rainy day in Edinburgh, you can get a coffee and stay warm outside with a lovely latte and sit amongst the flowers.
Uplands Roast, The MeadowsWhile technically they don’t have outdoor seating, the whole meadows are your ‘oyster’. You can wander the beautiful park, take in the sights and people watch until your heart is content. Their hot chocolate is one of the best in Edinburgh an something I’ve raved about for years now. Rain or shine, it’s SO worth the visit!
Patisserie Florentine, New TownA little French cafe just off Stockbridge, with a quirky little colour scheme, it’s pretty little exterior is perfect for a pot of tea, a proper teacup with a saucer and a sweet little croissant. I am a sucker for a gingham table cloth. This little spot is often full, head out early for a good seat.
Clava coffee, West EndWith a beautiful backdrop of the Usher Hall, this little police box serves a pretty good latte. There’s a good few tables for you to sit at, and if those are full.. you can sit on the stairs of the Usher Hall, or walk just a few seconds and have a castle view. No matter where you end up, a coffee and a wee wander is always a treat in Edinburgh, with so many sights to see, I can’t wait to show you around! Do you have a favourite coffee spot? Drop it below…Happy Sunday,Zoë xo
